There’s more to downtown Las Vegas’ dining scene than the many restaurants found along Fremont Street. In fact, some of the area’s best restaurants can be found on 3rd Street, just steps away from Fremont Street Experience.

FREEDOM BEAT

The new eatery on the block, this American restaurant inside Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino features a menu by “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 12 champion Scott Commings that takes guests on a culinary road trip through the United States. Open 24 hours, the diverse menu includes everything from Southern cuisine to traditional comfort food, with such savory selections as the BBQ Burger topped with smoked pork, fried egg, an onion ring and BBQ sauce and the Pot Roast made with root vegetables and garlic potatoes. There are also a variety of breakfast items available throughout the day and a menu of decadent desserts that boasts several American favorites, including Skillet Apple Pie topped with cheddar or American cheese. During select hours, diners can even enjoy live music while they eat. http://www.downtowngrand.com/eat/freedom-beat/

PIZZA ROCK

Boasting every type of pie imaginable, from Chicago cracker thin to Sicilian style, this palate-pleasing pizzeria by 12-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani is far from your traditional pizzeria. In addition to its many signature pies, like the award-winning Cal Italia topped with asiago, Gorgonzola, mozzarella, sweet fig preserve, prosciutto, Parmigiano-Reggiano and balsamic reduction, guests can enjoy a selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads, pastas and Italian dishes for lunch and dinner. There’s also an array of antipasti items diners can share with the table, like the tasty Coccoli: warm sea-salted fried dough served with prosciutto and burrata cheese. For those in a rush, a to-go window is available, as well, serving an assortment of slices. pizzarocklasvegas.com

TRIPLE GEORGE GRILL

Having celebrated its 11th anniversary last July, this Bay-style steak and seafood restaurant is a downtown dining classic. Although best known for its succulent cuts of beef and fresh fish, the restaurant has something for everyone on its lunch and dinner menus, including a selection of new glegan (gluten-free vegan) offerings guaranteed to impress even the most finicky of palates. It’s hard to believe that the flavorsome Chicken Stir Fry made with Gardein meatless chicken, squash, zucchini, carrots, broccoli and white rice is really vegan and gluten-free! Other new mouthwatering options include the glegan Penne Primavera and the Short Rib Ravioli appetizer, available during dinner hours. triplegeorgegrill.com
